  • Recruits must schedule an appointment with the Recruiting Department prior to arriving at Camp Perry.

  • Recruits will attend a formal interview and orientation. This is typically done on Saturday mornings during a drill weekend.

  • Recruits will spend (1) one full drill weekend with the unit prior to being sworn in. This is in addition to the interview & orientation date.

What Type of paper work will I need to complete?

All Recruits are given a packet of forms to complete. These forms include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Enlistment Application

  • Medical History Checklist

  • Federal and state background check link


What happens during a visit?

You will meet, spend time with and have the opportunity to ask questions about the Ohio Naval Militia. ONM personnel will in turn, ask you questions. The types of questions that you will be asked will relate to your skills, previous military service (if applicable), goals and interests.


If you have prior military service, please bring a copy of your Form DD 214 and other related documents that you deem necessary.
